Boulder, Colorado’s Rose Hill Drive have been releasing albums since 2006, and are one of the most underappreciated bands today. Like some other young, up and coming bands such as Taddy Porter and Blackwater James, Rose Hill Drive have been recreating the classic sounds of 70’s stoner rock. Influenced by Hendrix, Zeppelin, and early Aerosmith, they still believe in powerhouse drumming, blistering guitar solos, and fun rock songs. Americana is a little different than other Rose Hill Drive records. This one is a little more on the raw, psychedelic side. Songs like “Telepathic” and “Psychoanalyst” would make John Bonham smile, while “Birds Against The Glass” shows a little bit of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd influence. “Pictures of You” and “Baby Doncha Know Your Man” sound straight out of the British Invasion of the 60’s, which really gives Americana a more universal appeal than Rose Hill Drive’s previous records. These guys may be the best band you’ve never heard of. Check out Americana, and their previous releases, if you love rock n’ roll. You’ll be glad you did.
