Santa Cruz

Keepin' 80s Metal Alive And Heavy

Helsinki rockers, Santa Cruz rolled into Dallas, Texas as the opening act for Sebastian Bach on his 2016 An Evening with Bach tour at Trees in Deep Ellum. Appearing in front of a packed house, the band came out with balls a blazing kicking off with "Bonafide Heroes" from their second LP release self-title.

With the energy in the air and the youth in their pants, Santa Cruz performed holding nothing back like a kid in the candy store, enjoying every minute in front of an embracing Texas crowd.

The second song "Velvet Rope" kept the momentum high as they ate up the attention being thrown back at them. With the big 80s hair and the throw back 80s sound, the band delivered the tunes one by one to a very appreciative audience that seemed surprised and wildly impressed. Most didn't know that Santa Cruz were on the bill. But their hard core fan based knew, they were there to show their support.

"My Remedy" and "Bye Bye Babylon" were just a few numbers that had the fans right where the band wanted them, in the palm of their hands. Moving along to a darker but throat grabbing tune, "666 Feet Under" leveled their performance a notch higher.

Closing down their set with the last few songs, it was obvious Santa Cruz made a few more fans in Dallas. "We Are The Ones To Fall and "Wasted And Wounded" where just a few more from their self-titled release which came out in 2015.

The closing song, "Aiming High" was probably the one song that grabbed my attention the most. From their first EP, "Anthem For The Young And The Restless" was by far the show stopper. I totally ass kickin' number that left the audience screaming for more, but that was the last song of the night for Santa Cruz that finished off their 45 minute set.

Santa Cruz is on the Sebastian Bach tour through June 3rd. Try and catch them live as they are bringing a hard driving rock and roll throw back sound and holding no punches either. Truly a great live band!
