On a High Note

“I wished for a lot in the beginning,” said Scorpions founder Rudolf Schenker. “I envisioned myself to be part of one of the 30 best rock bands in the world. We’ve been on stage with Aerosmith, KISS, Metallica, AC/DC, – even the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Now we’re about to start one of the most spectacular tours of our career. It’s crazy. I never thought we would make it this long. I have accomplished more than I had envisioned.”

The Scorpions are Germany’s greatest hard rock export. After 45 years of performing, the band announced that they will be retiring after a world tour supporting their 17th and last album, Sting in the Tail. Known for their 1980’s rock anthem "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and their hit singles "No One Like You", "Send Me an Angel”, “Zoo”, "Still Loving You", and "Wind of Change", the Scorpions have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. The band includes Schenker on rhythm guitar; Matthias Jabs, guitar; Powel Maciwoda, bass; James Kottack, drums; and vocalist Klaus Meine.

“We want to end the Scorpions extraordinary career on a high note,” remarked Jabs. “We are extremely gracious for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. It made sense to all of us to end our career with this exceptional album. Our three-year tour through five continents is meant to be a huge blowout, where we can party with our fans and say good-bye.”
