The Real Thing

In a city overflowing with false idols, pretty faces and indistinguishable hard rock bands oozing from the woodwork, L.A. Guns always prided themselves on being the real thing. The tough, reckless energy of their 1988 debut, L.A. Guns, quickly demonstrated this band had what it took to stand out amongst the legion of rock groups prowling the city’s infamous Sunset Strip. It also clearly illustrated the potential this five-piece outfit had to carry their gritty, street savvy sound out of the City of Angels and unleash it on the rest of the world.

Historically, Tracii Guns and his oft imitated but never duplicated L.A. Guns, is noteworthy more for the band it spawned – Guns N’ Roses – than its own body of work. Interestingly enough, the always restless Guns would also be responsible for another influential ‘80s product, Faster Pussycat, before leaving his own mark. The band’s much lauded follow-up, the platinum plus Cocked & Loaded, did the trick. Fueled by the Top 20 hit, “Ballad of Jayne” and the power rockers “Rip and Tear” and “Never Enough”,

Cocked & Loaded firmly established L.A. Guns as one of the most original hard rock units to break out of Los Angeles.
In February 2010, L.A. Guns announced they had signed a deal with Steve Vai's label, Favored Nations, to release a Deluxe Reissue of Shrinking Violet, the only album to feature singer ex-Love / Hate vocalist Jizzy Pearl. The album will be repackaged with new artwork and five new live bonus tracks. The group will tour with Pearl on vocals, son Jeremy on bass and Chad Taylor, drums.
