Trials and Tribulations

Talk about the trials and tribulations of a rock and roll band that finds its way, completely loses direction, members get lost in the shuffle, and finally after 14 years, they figure out they were idiots for parting ways in the first place.

Yeah, I’m talking about Warrant. From mega-hit, pop-rock-star success to bankruptcy to lineup changes, these five rockers rode a wild roller coaster ride through the first decade of their musical career. The group surfaced in Los Angeles in 1986 and adopted the City of Angels as their new home and as their launching pad to stardom. From the very beginning, the band took the motto of hard work and exposure to reach the largest possible audience. When Warrant played the L.A. club scene, they were known as THE band that would get the plug pulled on them. Why – because they would never stick to their allotted time slot during a show and would stay on stage until club management shut down their power.

The power that fueled the group in the first place is at full throttle. For the first time since band members started parting ways in 1994, the Down Boys have decided the original line-up of Jani Lane (vocals); Joey Allen (lead guitar); Jerry Dixon (bass); Erik Turner (guitar) and Steven Sweet (drums) was actually pretty damn good. After all, they did sell SIX million albums with three albums – Dirty, Rotten, Filthy Stinking Rich, Cherry Pie and Dog Eat Dog.

Now, if they could just bring Miss Cherry Pie (and ex-Mrs. Jani Lane) Bobbi Brown to Rocklahoma to make a cameo appearance during “Cherry Pie”, all would be forgiven. – well from the fans point of view at least.
